How to Create a Vision Board to Visualize Success

What is a vision board?

A vision board is a lifetime, annual, or even monthly tradition where you piece together images that represent your goals to create a collage of what you hope to accomplish in your life, year, or month. Here is how to create a vision board to visualize success.

The importance of a vision board

Why have a vision board? After all, it takes time, energy, and effort to create. A vision board can help bring a tangible, visual representation of your goals. It helps to imagine what the new year will hold. Of course, nothing can be set in stone as we can’t control the God-ordained events; however, we do have some control. A vision board is a helpful tool to make the first step towards your goal/s.

Let’s create a vision board! Steps to visualize success

Step 1— set your goals
The first step to creating a vision board is to set your goals. I like to start by writing a list of my goals and/or resolutions for your selected timeframe. I created a vision board for this new year, so I chose achievable goals to be completed this year, such as learn to cook 5 dishes, read 20 books, play X, Y, Z on the piano, complete a month without meat, and save X amount of money. These are just a few examples.

Step 2—collect and print images that match those goals
I also wanted to point out that you are not limited to just photos of your goals. Be creative! This is YOUR vision board. I also included pictures that inspired creativity, energy, and excitement to achieve my goals. Including photos that inspire you is critical to success. Also, make sure to choose the main “focus” photo that represents your overall desire for 2020.

Step 3—final touches
Finally, whip out that unused poster board (or a piece of paper works, too), grab a glue stick, and get to work! I would suggest placing your focus photo in the middle of your poster board, with your goal and inspiration photos branching off your focus photo. Lastly, put your vision board where you will see it often enough. My vision board resides in my planner, so I see it daily.

What’s next?

Now you have completed your vision board, go you! You have officially taken the first step to success. Next is meeting those goals. The secret to achieving your goals is the selection and planning of said goals. You can read more about that process here.
Until we meet again,
